America 3000 Information for Role-Playing
Movie Synopsis:

"The computers reporting a massive Soviet first strike were in error. However, due to standing Presidential orders the computers reacted to the perceived threat by initiating a total retaliatory response. A Soviet counterstrike has also been confirmed. We didn’t ask for this war, but d**n, we WON IT!!" -- General Greer, man on video screen Korvis finds in the Presidential bunker.
In 1986, the world was engaged in a nuclear war which wiped out civilization as we know it. Nine hundred years later, a new civilization has emerged from the war that was to be called, “The Great Nuke”. Humans have become wild, and government has been reduced to tribal.
Men and women have been divided into a ruling class –called “Frauls”—and a slave class –called Plugarts. Frauls –probably from the German, “Frau” or “Fraulein”, meaning “woman”) are women, and the Plugarts are all men.
Frauls:
Frauls are the rulers of what is left of America. Whether this is for the rest of the world, or just for once was the United States is unknown. They are lead by a hereditary leader, called a “Tiara” (from the small crown), with a second-in-command. They are fierce warriors, like the Amazons of ancient Greece.
Plugots:
Plugots are the subservient to the Frauls. The Plugots come in two major categories: Wild and Slaves.
Wild Plugots live in the wilderness, and are like the stereotypical cavemen; brutish, dumb, and hungry. They are often captured and turned into slaves.
Slave Plugots are men that have been captured and forced to serve the women. They are further divided into three types: Machos, Toys, and Seeders.
Machos: These are the heavier, stronger Plugots, often not good-looking enough to be Toys or clean –and well-endowed—enough to be Seeders. The Machos are used for heavy labor.
Toys: These are males that are used mainly as playthings, although what kind of playing is involved is a mystery. They are chosen as boys, and are cared for by a Toykeeper, usually a man too old to continue as a toy. Toys are usually made mute (by the removal of their tongues), and are castrated (to make them gentle). This may not always be the case, as Lelz, the Toykeeper for Comb Frisco, can speak. Toys are sometimes called, “Half-Frauls” as a derogatory name, due to their genitals being removed.
Seeders: Possibly the most prized slaves of all, for Seeders are used to impregnate Frauls chosen at certain times (called a “season”) to bear children. These men are allowed to keep their –“personal plumbing”—so that they may “seed” a woman. Seeders are usually “marked” with a branding iron.
RPG: Chances are, the males in your group probably will not want to play as any of these “Plugots”. Well, they might, but more than likely not. However, Comb Frisco is the only village that has accepted men as equals. The way around this limitation is simple: Representatives of other Combs have visited Comb Frisco and witnessed the new arrangement. They have come away from the experience somewhat confused. Quite a few are disgusted with the idea. But an adventurous few have decided to try this “thing called love”. A one-way trip, I should have, for once the Plugots get a taste of freedom, they will not want to go back. Your Comb is one of these that are attempting to change things for the better for both men and women.
Combs:
Combs (probably from honeycomb, as bees are often associated with Amazons) are the villages of the Frauls. These villages are made up of simple huts, or “shelts”, were each Fraul lives. One shelt is reserved for the village doctor, called “Redcross”. There are also areas where the slaves are kept, depending on if they are machos, toys, or seeders.
The seeders are kept in a seeding camp. Here, there are tents for the seeders, as well as s hut specifically for seeding a woman “in season”.
Seeder Camp: This is a group of tents that house “clean” seeders, especially for the purpose of impregnating a Fraul that is “in season”. There is usually a shelt for the seeding. The Frauls call the seeding, “The Ordeal”.
For the seeding ritual, the Fraul –dressed in white robes-- is tied to the bed. When the Seeder is led in, he, too wears robes, as well as a hood. Both robes can be parted in the correct place for the seeding, without anything else being revealed. The seeder then just does “his thing”. “Clean” seeders are preferred, but this does not guarantee that the male will be good-looking. (Lynka was lucky; her Seeder was quite handsome.)
Paradise Oil (An old gas station) was the Seeder camp for Comb Frisco.
The birthen (birthing) is mentioned, but nothing is explained about any rituals tied to it.
The Contam: This is an area contaminated by radiation, although recently the contamination has been proven to have left the area, since that is where Korvis and his men lived prior to joining the women of Comb Frisco. Among the Frauls, it is against the regs (rules) to venture into the Contam. The shelts in the Contam is mostly airplane hangers. Korvis’ village in the Contam was/is called Camp Reagan.
Transportation: The only forms of transportation in this post-Apocalyptic world are walking, horses, and animal-drawn (or slave-drawn) wagons and carts.
Mutants: Not much is known about the mutants that live in the world post-Nuke. The only one known from the movie is Aargh the Awful, which looks a lot like how Bigfoot is said to look like –very big and very hairy. What other possible mutants (created by the fallout from the Great Nuke) exists are open to interpretation.
When we first see him, Aargh is in a cage where a young Fraul is taking a warrior’s test. (Gruss, who narrates, says she is take her final lawyer’s exam. It is unknown what “lawyer” means to the Frauls, but if I were to hazard a guess, I would say that it was a low-level of warrior.) The girl gets tossed out of the cage, and it is unknown if she survived, so it is unknown if she passed or not.
“Redcross”: Redcross is the title of the doctor/medicine woman of the Frauls. She carries a large first-aid kit, and her knowledge is part passed-down real medicine, part “magic”. When applying her medication, she chants the mantra, “Redcross…redcross…redcross…” which is believed to have healing power. It does not always work, of course –as evidenced by the dying Rhea (mother to Vena and Lakella).
Tiara: The Tiara is the queen of a Comb of Frauls. The position is hereditary, although the Tiara can name her heir, regardless of birth order. (Although Lakella was born first, Rhea named Vena as her heir.). The Tiara wears something that symbolizes her authority. This item is easily recognized for what it is. Vena’s item is a pendent made from a tuning fork on a leather back. If the Tiara has no daughters, it is assumed that her second-in-command takes command of the Comb.
When a Tiara dies, there is a small ritual where the other Frauls swears fealty to the new chosen Tiara. Someone –an Elder most often—declares, “The Tiara is cold, long liven the Tiara!” The other Frauls swear to follow the new Tiara.
The “swearing-in” of a new Tiara goes something like this. (From the swearing-in of Vena):
A respected Elder would start with a speech.
"Once the world was green and livin. Then was the Great Nuke. Death lived everywhere! All were born sick and unclean – a livin curse from the Merkins and Commies! Then, one day, a baby was born – clean and clear – and the livin curse was over! The child grew strong and beautiful, and she was called----"
The Friscos: WOMAN!
"Woman taught her children to follow the Tiara and follow the regs, and the Earth lived again! But some disobeyed the regs, and from them came the children of darkness and disease!"
The Friscos: "PLUGART!!"
"Plugarts nuked, ‘till neggie are left!"
Then the Elder will give the new Tiara her Oath of Office: (From Vena’s swearing-in.):
"Vena of Frisco – solemn swear to enforce the regs, oversee the birthins, and rule the Comb until the Prezzydent comes to lead us into a new tomorrow!"
Vena: "Solemn swear!"
The swearing-in usually takes place at the funeral of the previous Tiara, if possible. When the swearing-in is done, the new Tiara will light the funeral pyre of the deceased Tiara. After which, the Frauls have a little party, complete with alcohol of some time. Very potent alcohol.
Visiting Frauls: When Frauls from another Comb visits a Comb, there is a ritualistic greeting that is performed between both of the Tiaras’ seconds (or more, if representatives of more than one Comb is visiting):
The seconds face each other and cross knives. They then chant (Example from the movie):
Lakella: "I, Lakella, Second to Vena, Tiara of Frisco, give you safe shelter!"
Freyha: "I, Freyha, Second to Morha, Tiara of Kanso, accept your safe shelter!"
Then, the seconds resheath their knives.
Death Challenge: This is mentioned in the movie by Vena’s friend, Lynka, but is not gone in any further. We can assume that, if a Fraul –or Frauls—are dissatisfied with a Tiara’s rule, she –or they—may challenge the current Tiara to a fight to the death. How this is handled, however, is unknown.
Weapons: Most weapons (weaps) are primitive knives, swords, bows and arrows, etc. No firearms of any kind, until Korvis finds the laser guns in the bunker.
Vena does learn, however, to make crude, homemade grenades which she calls “Thunder Rocks”. They resemble the old-fashioned, round black cartoon bombs.
The bunker and the “Prezzydent”: When Lakella shoots Korvis with her crossbow, the bolt strikes his chest, and he falls. However, he is saved by his ABC book, which he wore under his shirt on a cord, over his heart.
Korvis landed in an underground bunker. This bunker is the Presidential bunker, where the President of the United States would have been taken for safety when the Great Nuke occurred. The only indication that the President had survived the original war is a recorded message on a monitor screen, and a skeleton sitting in a chair in front of the monitor, a boombox beside him.
Korvis also finds doors (cupboards) with the words “ARMS” and “Authorized Personnel”. (When he sees the word, “ARMS”, he feels his own, muscular biceps, in understanding of one meaning for the word.) He opens the cupboard and finds laser guns, complete with diagramed instructions. He makes more discoveries, and uses them all in his plans.
Other stuff he finds:
Gold decontamination suits.
Doors with the Presidential Seal
Arcade games
Grenades and other explosives.
Ghettoblaster
Air Freshener: Which Aargh sprays all over himself (and probably needs it!)
Flare guns
Warlord comic book (Strangely, Gruss finds instructions on how to throw a grenade in this book.)
The Prezzydent: This is the mythical leader that is suppose to lead the Frauls to a “New Tomorrow” kind of future. Frauls believe the Prezzydent to be another Fraul, but Korvis takes on the role to secure a talk with Vena. Gruss becomes convinced that Korvis is the Prezzydent.
Items from the 80’s:
A banner that reads: The Rolling Stones Farewell Tour 1989. It is wrapped around drums being played by two Frauls.
This info is far from complete, as I need to watch the movie again. But it will do for a start.
